That might be plausible, But then.. As a civil servant, one is a kind of carte d'visit for his country. With a messy miniature-group, wouldn't be a really nice carte d'visit..... Anyway, still many awards for "just" a civil servant.. If you buy miniatures, they're already expensive in the netherlands, for a little extra money, they can be mounted, thus for the money, it's not THE point in not having your miniatures mounted correct. Thank you for the pictures, the ribbon bar with the two crowns is for the gran ufficiale (grand officers class) which you posses at the moment. Kind regards, Jacky take by example the modern militairy order of Italia. this is the ribbon bar for the Grande ufficiale grade the ufficiale would wear a silver device, then the commendatore (commander) a gold device, Grande Ufficiale two gold devices and finally the cavaliere di Gran Croce three gold devices on his ribbon.

If one looks at the reverse of the bronze one.... this one appears to have been broken and soldeered recently...... Might be a modern bar, just cheered up and rumbled with.... thus moving the silver one over and slapping a EK II in between might seem strange, but this one had already been rumbled with... So no harm could have been done to this one, it only would look far better!!!! Kind regards Jacky

I would think this is only worth the value of the individual pieces!! The stitching is indeed not correct and constant everywhere..... One would expect to find a overall constant appearance.... Kind regards

Hi Hunyadi, the friedrich august medals are from saxon, If I'm correct, the bronze friedrich august medal is on the war ribbon, the other must be a ribbon black with two thin stripes on the sides..... if non war, but if war ribbon, the silver one should be ahead of the bronze one..... *just doing this from my memorie, you know it's sunday thus it might be failing...* The ribbons look pretty old, have you already tried blacklighting?? If the ribbons are glowing... alas, no good... Don't know too much about this, one of the experts will perhaps correct me and teach us the right story. Kind regards, Jacky

What you try to say is that he, as long as he is within the SAS, he can't wear his MC in public ??? This due to the chance of getting recognised as a SAS?? This question isn't specifically about SAS, but just a secret office/action and a member receives a quite high medal. Wouldn't it attract attention if sergeant X all of a sudden wears a MC, but wasn't gazetted?? Thus he must have been the SAS-man who received also a MC...... Couldn't that conflict with the "secret"sense around the operation? If I'm correct, Austalia recently awarded two bravery awards to two SAS, or something like that, but due to all the mystery around it, I wondered if those two would be allowed to wear their medals... Even if this could help others to find out who the two SAS were.... They were broadcasted anonymous, just as two SAS soldiers to receive high bravery awards..... Kind regards, Jacky

I don't know whether this question deserves a new topic, but I'm wondering how they deal with anonymous decorations for SAS etc??? Let's say, a SAS receives a MC, but because of his identy, the award wouldn't be gazetted with his full name, but instead just a mention of a SAS receiving a MC, right? But can he wear his decoration in public? Won't this be recognised when someone receives a anonymous MC and suddenly Sgt X wears a MC.... What's the policy with this kind of stuff?? Wonderfull bar, but if my memory serves me correct, it is a bit strange for it to be a frack bar as a frack bar would have to be worn on the right breast, and this bar is clearly german But the first medal is something strange to me, then a bunch of french, prussian and other imperial german states, greek medals Can't be really clear about this one. but... WHAT A BAR!! left to right Order of the falcon knight 1st class Order of the zahringer lion, knight first class the name escaped me of this one... Recieved SLH4 as "B?chsenspanner 25.11.02."}}} A royal gun maker who had 31 awards That seems a good job or it must have been a swap with a poor prince; a gun for the knights class of my house order But what other awards did this man get?? Or must be a really near-dead case. As was with Private Beharry, many shells in his head etc..... Well, the VC is considered the highest decoration, but I get sometimes the feeling that a general doesn't really want to get outranked by a simple private wearing the VC. Many stories of extraordinary bravery have found their ways to us by the press, but many cases are considered "just short of VC" or given the GC instead because it's not an official war. Sad...
