Netherlands Dutch Carte de Visite's
Jacky replied to Herr General's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
the first picture is hard... I would guess something german, because the commander has oakleaves hangen above it. But it's not a pour le merite.... Another german order with the keepered arms was the ludwig order, but this order had a crown above it. 2nd picture; Commander 1st class, the breaststar is also of the order of the sword from Sweden. And the last one is indeed of persia, the order of the sun & Lion of persia. -
Netherlands Dutch Carte de Visite's
Jacky replied to Herr General's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
This picture must have been made short after WW1, since the officers wear the dutch War recommemorative cross 1914-1918 and the lieutenant Colonel, seated at the right, is wearing a lot of WW1 red-cross decorations of the neighbours; Germany, Austria-Hungary etc. Kind regards, Jacky p.s. Am I correct in saying that the man standing at the left is a non-commissioned officer as he appears to wear a long service MEDAL... Let the master speak himself.... -

Very wonderfull picture!! The man in the middle must be noble, because he's wearing the knights cross & breaststar of the johanniter order. The others are aslo quite decorated, the left one with the knight Netherlands Liond and the right one a knight Militairy order of William. All in all, very very nice pictures!! kind regards, Jacky -

Very very very impressing pictures, all with a very tingly tangly breast. With regard to the bavarian military order is the full rank; bavarian military merit cross with swords ?nd crown, which is a rank higher than just the cross with swords. Kind regards, Jacky -
Even miniature lanyards; grabbed from: also the medal missing in my collection; bronze medal of leopold II unilingual, but this one is bi-lingual, but still pricey (40,-) Kind regards, Jacky

Well about the lanyards, at ebay.ca is someone selling quite nice belgian groups, but also a lanyard for the order of the african star.

Bulgaria Bulgarian medals and ribbon bars
Jacky replied to Deruelle's topic in Central & Eastern European States
Personally I think it's too golden to be patina, it might be a stripped down 4th class just because it looked so nice, without the rosette... Or it might have been reribboned without the correct rosette, it's hard to tell from the pictures, because flash, shadows etc etc. kind regards, Jacky -
Yes, and that explains also why breast stars etc always looked so great on them but so small on us nowadays..... I just see them and think: 8 cm what tiny.... :S

sooooo many titles, he might even give us a few of them But indeed a very nice picture of his uniform!! Kind regards, Jacky

Netherlands Medals from Dutch Colonel J. van Golen
Jacky replied to Herr General's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
I think that they should be less thinking and more checking books and references!!! And they're quite expensive too, Now I know a few more adresses for mounting medals and batons. Kind regards, Jacky -
the chance of a man, joining both guyana ?nd kosovo would have been low... Due to the time-scale between them?? just 2 cents (worth) Kind regards, Jacky

Well I can understand Chris, But still it's very very sad to hear that such a wonderfull group has gone...... I'm wondering what all the orders are and who the receipment of those orders was. First guess would be a lady, because of the Iron cross like thing with the geneva cross on it. Kind regards, Jacky

Netherlands DUTCH MILITARY SPORTS BADGE
Jacky replied to Kev in Deva's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
And.... he has passed away, such a great man. If I'm correct, he himself was a decorandus of; -Knight orange Nassau - War Commemorative Cross with clasp "Netherlands May 1940" - Resistance Commemorative Cross - Knight of Adolph of Nassau (luxembourg) - honourable gold medal of ministery of defence. - honourable golden coin of the chef of the land-forces - prince Hendrik the Sailor-Coin of the Royal marine That makes him a receipment of two of his own designed medals. But I couldnt find the resistance commemorative cross in his Curiculum Vitea (but I just got the information from Internet, and internet isn't really reliable on it own.) He has even designed uniforms for the emperor Hale Selassi. Of the dutch decorations; medal of orde & peace. Mobilisation War Cross Resistance Star South East Asia Cross for justice & Peace. here, one can find more pictures of his burial and the guard of honor with his own designed uniforms. Kind regards, Jacky -
THAT is a really nice group.... Even named??? Kind regards, Jacky

From the site, a little quote from the criteria.. "The Air Force released in writing Monday the criteria for receiving the Combat Action Medal, the Air Force?s equivalent to the Army?s Combat Action Badges and Marine Corps and Navy Combat Action Ribbon." So where others get a badge or a ribbon, the airforce, who are already really the clerks of the whole defence, will get a medal, just to have another jingle jangle going on. I think that they feel they get too few medals compared to the army or other departments..... Well, let's say that's another medal we can collect legally as it isn't mentioned in the stolen valor act. Correct me if I'm wrong. Kind regards, Jacky

I have to say that the ribbon is most likely not original, yes old it is, but perhaps not original. Well done Kevin, The mark hadn't occured to me. I'm wondering too. Kind regards, Jacky p.s. these photo's looks far more beautifuller than the scan. -

Jacky replied to emaier3's topic in United States of America
Wasn't america the country where "free press" was still a magic word?? Let's fight congress with the free press!! We all hope that this stupid Act will be amended to exclude goodwilling collectors and history preservers. kind regards, Jacky -
