    1. Thanks for the image, pretty sure this is not a Cap Badge but would more likely be a Sweetheart Brooch or as you say, an Association Badge. Rare too as this was a relatively small Unit. Regards Simon.
    2. For the benefit of other Forum Members who have not encountered this Unit before here is a link to their history https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Electrical_Engineers Regards Simon
    3. I may be way off here but to me the vehicle shown on the left appears to have a gun muzzle facing the camera, there does not appear to be a muzzle brake of any kind and the smooth outline top right suggests to me that this may be a Sherman tank. The perspective of the photograph makes the figures on the left look large in comparison with this vehicle but there appears to me to be someone standing immediately next to it who would make the Sherman Tank theory appear about the right size. The vehicle on the right appears to have fairly flat slab plates and I would suggest that this could be a Chevrolet C15 Truck. IMHO. Regards Simon.
    4. Brian, Thanks for posting this very informative and well presented article. Your Sword collection and its display is of the highest order. I look forward to seeing more as you get the time. Best regards Simon.
    5. It appears to be a model of a Fairburn Sykes fighting knife. Take a look here and you will find all you need to know. https://www.fairbairnsykesfightingknives.com/ Best regards Simon.
    6. Dante, Very well researched and written, thank you. Have you managed to confirm his entitlement to a Durbar Medal? Simon.
    7. Bruce, If you have the time it's worth searching the records here to see if he gets a mention although his name is obviously fairly common. https://www.oldbaileyonline.org/index.jsp Regards Simon.
    8. Chris, Sorry only just seen this post. His Medal Index Card shows his WW1 entitlement as the 1914-15 Star you have, BWM and Victory Medal. He entered Theatre of War (5a) Asia on 9th December 1915 and served through to disembodiment on 13th June 1919. It also shows him as Warrant Officer Class 2 still serving with the Buffs using the Regimental Number 240007. Will see what else I can find on him and let you know. Simon. A quick check on the BWM and Victory Medal Rolls shows him as WO2 and gives his previous Unit as 1/5th Battalion East Kents which would have been his Unit in 1915, might be worth trying to find the Unit War Diary for the period to see if he is mentioned. Simon.
    9. James, Couldn't find much to help you really apart form a reference to a Webley revolver 'Snap Pad' Hammer Protector at the bottom of this web page. http://www.hallowellco.com/Webley collection large.htm Regards Simon
    10. Peter, The Medal Roll record for MSR Broadbent on Ancestry UK is not this Man, it refers to 2nd Lt MSR Broadbent serving with the Royal Field Artillery I'm afraid. Simon.
    11. Pieter, A very nice medal and nicely presented. Personally I wouldn't worry about the clasp having been reversed, it's part of the history of the medal and was obviously proudly worn at some stage by his wife. Regards Simon.
    12. Another well researched and written addition to your collection. Thanks for showing us. Best regards Simon.
    13. Chris, Worth reading through this, it may give some pointers for further research. http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/topic/240115-rfcrnasraf-training-deaths-100-years-on/ Simon
    14. Sorry, only just viewed this. His Medal Index Card shows that Leonard Tomblin indeed served with the Regiment and is entitled to the Medals in your possession. He entered France as first theatre of war on 1st September 1915 and was discharged on 5th December 1918. He was also awarded the SWB Number B206140 for wounds received overseas and gives his date of enlistment as 7th September 1914. Regards Simon.
    15. Have recently had a chance to examine a genuine WW2 DFC Typhoon Pilots tunic and comparing it with the one shown above I would say its a good one and would be happy to have it myself. A close up of the medal ribbons would be helpful because obviously they can be added but the make up and materials of the tunic look good. Simon.
    16. Another very nice item to add to your collection, never seen one for Newport before, thanks for posting. Regards Simon.
    17. Colin, Have just seen this, congratulations again on some superb work, Excellent. Simon.
    18. Superbly painted, many thanks for showing us, more to follow I hope? Regards Simon.
    19. Very nice and would fit well with this uniform, would also need the Swan feather plume for the hat. Regards Simon
    20. Very nice uniform but I do not think it is Military, looks like a Victorian Lord Lieutenant or Deputy Lord Lieutenants uniform to me. See here for similar https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/chorleys-auctioneers-and-valuers/catalogue-id-srcho10019/lot-fd72d7ff-70cf-4bb1-b988-a4cf00e9634e Regards Simon
