David, I do not have a Stammliste entry for him but can tell you he was commissioned into the Königs-Infanterie-Regiment Nr, 145; Leutnant (20.3.99 E). After attending the Kriegsakademie in 1910-1912 he was transferred to the Kadettenkorps as an Oberleutnant although at the outbreak of the war was serving as an Hauptmann (1.10.13 A29a) as the Platzmajor in Wesel. I have nothing on him as regards his wartime service in WW1. Regards Glenn

Chris, it very much depends on whether you are solely interested in the uniforms of WW1. If that is the case, the Kraus books will probably meet all your needs. The three volume work by Knötel, Pietsch and Collas is superb for the peacetime uniforms of 1914. should you need information on the pre-war development, Pietsch's two volume work "Die Formations Und Uniformierungs-Geschichte Des Preubischen Heeres 1808 - 1914" is excellent. I know you are particularly interested in the Bavarian army, so "Die feldgraue Friedens- und Kriegsbekleidung der Königlich Bayerischen Armee" 1916 by Helm and Strobel is extremely useful. Regards Glenn

He was granted permission to wear the Double Dragoon per Order of 12 December 1894 as published in the Marine-Verordnungsblatt. He had been serving as the First Officer of the Gunboat SMS Iltis on the East Asian Station. He was the Artillery officer of SMS Brandenburg during the Boxer Rebellion and as such received the Chinadenkmünze für Kämpfer. Regards Glenn

Some more names for you. The medical officer standing next to the captain is Marine-Oberstabsarzt Dr. Johannes Krause. The officer at the far right is the first officer, Korvetten-Kapitän Wilhelm Bruns. Both are wearing the commander's cross of the Belgian Order of Leopold II. The officer at the far left is the navigating officer, Kapitänleutnant Emil Heusinger von Waldegg. He wears a knight's cross of the Belgian Crown Order. Strangely, his other decoration is not listed. Regards Glenn
