    1. the entire book? There's a short pictorial history of each army assignment the Division had. It appears it was published @ mid 1920s by the typeface etc. It is entitled: "Die 26. Infantrie Division (1. Kgl. Wurtt.) im Krieg 1914-1918 Zussammengestellt im Divisionsstab", by Stable & Friedel in Stuttgart. It's paperback and no author is listed although there's almost no text-it's almost 100% photos from peoples' collections (seemingly every Offcr Stllvtr. had a camera by the credits). I can post some more of the photos here if you'd like from the summer, 1916 section. Feel free to use them as needed as copyright has long since evaporated from the original photographers.
    2. ..."participant in numerous street battles'-classic and well put phrase that.
    3. I have an obscure Die 26 Inf. Div. photo booklet published in @ 1921. It shows Urach as divisional commander until the 5th of Jan. 1917. From May 29, 1916 until August 16th 1916 the division was part of the 1st Army.
    4. ....wasn't there a small navel contingent in the 1848/9 troubles- and at Paris?
    5. Or the Italians- I'm sure once the sack coat was off, the hair down...all sorts of wounded soldiers were trying to paw that ...badge.
    6. I'm sure as a legionnaire you've had tougher assignments...and done them in record time...
    7. Just in from the nether regions . I have no clue what that badge could be. Any thoughts?
    8. any chance that's a "victory tower"? http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2007-08/...ent_6545449.htm
    9. connected with the Koop merchant marine lines of Bremen no doubt?
    10. Nice addition!! Great Crusade medal AND the Treffen badge on a Luftwaffeuniform!!
    11. sweet! Congratulatiojs on a great piece-and thanks to Glenn for showing us-very interesting, "normal" career for the era.
    12. what was/is the one on the far right-on the Soviet style mounting (pic. of a tower)?
    13. Nope-close, but not SRV.....maybe Derg Ethiopian though. The Derg regime sent lots of its officers to Hungary for training at their academies.
    14. Very interesting. Merridales' recent book on the Soviet army had quite a bit to say about these 'regimental children". i did not know they were eligible for medals though-now THAT is interesting.
    15. what's the size and weight of this piece? I am wondering of this is the 'zinc" version that someone has been overzealous about polishing/cleaning (shudder)?
    16. Yup-the more I look at it I am wondering Spanish or maybe, just maybe South American. I am perusing my Paraguayan war books as I type.
    17. wouldn't this then date the photo to 1935- mid 1936, the time between the award of the HKx and the advent of the LS awards?
    18. That's why we are all waiting with baited breath for your book- If Schiffer does it I'm certain they'll have "Provides the most detailed and complete information on the Azad Hind awards , a requirement for every serious and advanced collector etc.".... ....it'll go into a second printing within a month. Throw in a few pages about any "SS" connections and it'll go into a third edition easily .
