    1. Thanks for posting the pics. Next time I am in DC I'll check it out.
    2. Good post and stories. Halsey is my favorite American admiral.
    3. My thoughts excatly. I forgot who said it but "always take the high ground".
    4. Ok. I would been grateful if someone would translate the headline.
    5. No one can help with this? Do I need to post a bigger image?
    6. The below newspaper article is from WWII and concerns a B-29 shot down over Omura Japan. All of the crewmen were KIA and one was from my hometown. Would some one please give a translation of the text in the article? Thanks.
    7. A rather plain bronze plaque in my hometown which lists all of the men who served and, at the bottom, those eight who died during the war. Of these eight only two died in combat, the others died of illness. I was able to get their service card and picture from the state archive.
    8. You are correct. I was understanding Prussian to mean - not Third Reich, Saxony, Bavaria or Wurrtemburg.
    9. One of my favority bars, all Prussian to General Major Gronau. Included is a pic of him wearing it.
    10. Great job of preservation and research. The seller would have probable sold it for scrap to be melted down if you did not buy it.
    11. Interesting how both sides claimed God was on their side. I think God may have taken a holiday between 1914 and 1918 and told all warring parties "you made this mess so you fix it". The first world war was the war that should never should have happend with all nations equally to blame.
    12. Paul, The above pistol does not look bad. I also checked into restoring a rifle that had been chromed and did not do it.
    13. I don't think it is a question of members being interested in German Naval Aviation. I think it is more a question of artifacts from German Naval Aviation are so very rare. I wish I had something to contribute. Jaba1914, the badges you posted are beautiful and they are my favorite German flight badge. I expecially like the Naval Observe badge with the large eagle on it. Would you post a picture of one? Thanks for starting this thread.
    14. They move the bar lower towards the waist. Some of them were their medal ono their knee.
    15. Many of the ships were raised and sold for scrap. There are some left to dive on and it is a major dive stop. The water is cold and not always clear. I understand that the steel from some of the ships is still being salvaged as it is one of the few sources of steel that does not have atomic radiation.
    16. I did a quick look and no luck. If the GE3 was late in 1914 then there is not much hope of finding him. The HOH3x and RAO4kr combo is to common.
    17. This bar has traveled a long path from Saxony to outside Berlin to New Jersey and back across the Atlantic to France.
    18. Awards as visible on the bar + Russian Stanislaus knight, Turkish half moon, black would badge and Wehrmacht long service 1st class. What is tricky here is, that his Bremen Hanseatic "BH" is mis-listed as "BK" - Baden war aid cross - in the Reichsheer ranklists :-) Now I know why I did not find him.
    19. Since the rolls are available for the awards in th 2, 3, and 4 position I should be able to find him. Should is the word, but I can't. Nice bar.
