    1. Here is a picture of the military leaders in WWI: Unsere Führer im 1. Weltkrieg Uwe
    2. Yes, Alpacca is cheap compared to the importance of the signatures. Viribus unitis = with combined forces = Mit vereinten Kräften Erinnerung = in memory Mackensen von Hindenburg Erzherzog Carl GenLt = Erzherzog Karl Feldmarschall-Leutnant = a short time later Kaiser Karl Conrad von Hötzendorf GenOberst (Generaloberst) Erzherzog Friedrich FM (Feldmarschall) But I have a problem with the signature top right. Uwe
    3. My last DRL document in Silber for a woman is from September 1943: It is now a local award of the Lord Mayor of Berlin. In 1952 she was one of the first women with a DSB sports badge in Gold. Uwe

    5. Hi, the same man: DRL in Silber 1937, 1. Wiederholung for Gold in 1938 and 2. 9. Hi, I think, that the medal in the von Sallach online catalogue is the newest edition. Mr. von Sallach wants to clarify it in the ministry. My medals, the type as shown above, are marked in the rim with "WIEDMANN", the cases are with the full address: E. Ferd. Wiedmann Metallwarenfabrik Frankfurt a.M.-Süd Uwe
    10. Hi Chris, Oberstleutnant v. Ludwiger, Abteilungschef beim Stab des Chefs des Feldeisenbahnwesens (before in InfRgt 56). Uwe
    11. That is for me difficult to explain in English. He had no military training, see No. 11 in his Militärpaß > militärisch nicht ausgebildet But he was studying something, and that ended in May 1917. He could now be a civilian Ingenieur [later called Ing.(grad)], or, on a higher level, Diplom-Ingenieur (Dipl.-Ing.). Since 01.06.1917 he received provisionally (auf Widerruf) the rank "Hilfsingenieur", since 01.08.1918 provisionally the rank "Ingenieur auf Widerruf". All that as civil servant candidate (Beamter auf Widerruf). Limited up to the demobilization (längstens bis zur Demobilmachung). He left the Army on the 31.12.1918 (Demobilmachung). A short time later, as a civilian, he acquired the higher qualification "Doktor der Ingenieurwissenschaften" > Dr.-Ing. Uwe

Klasse (1910); only the ribbon, the cross was removed Oldenburg Haus- und Verdienstorden des Herzogs Peter Friedrich Ludwig Ritterkreuz 1. Klasse (1909), and the Sachsen-Altenburg medal is also missing. Uwe
