Missing from the group are: Good Conduct Medal Reserve Good Conduct Medal National Defense Service Medal, with two stars Humanitarian Service Medal Reserve Forces Medal Those are unnamed medals, so they will be easy to replace. The seller acquired this set from a huge lot of medals received from a collectors estate sale. He is looking to see if the other medals are still around somewhere.
    2. I have seen police medical officers with the blue underlay. I have never seen a NCO though.
    3. Wow. Those are great! I have the Order of the Spanish Main (hit all of the Caribbean Islands), Golden Dragon (Date Line), and the Shellback (Equator) under my belt. Those initiations sucked... but I am glad that I went through them. I missed out the on the Blue Nose by two weeks due to my transfer to Texas. I am still bummed about that.
    4. I was doing an essay for my 19th Century Europe course. A portion of it covered East Africa and General Lettow-Vorbeck's involvement in WW1. My question is, did the men who were a part of the guerrilla war in East Africa receive the German Colonial Service Medal? I know that the Germans were eligible for combat decorations, but I do not know if the Colonial Service Medal was awarded as well. Also, I read that there were only a couple hundred Germans and thousands of native African militiamen. Were the natives eligible for German awards? Surely some demonstrated themselves heroically. The best writeup I could find was actually compiled by Chris (I cited him in my paper). http://www.kaiserscross.com/188001/437364.html
    5. Holy crap!! A Russo-Japanese War and WW1 Vet in that last bar(where is the Victory Medal)? Please dont take it apart...
    6. I dont know what it could be... perhaps medical personel with police?
    7. This is a very interesting thread. All of the photographs seem to be very early on, before WW2 (pre-1941). Did the Japanese stop awarding medals to privates and NCOs once the war against the Allies began? Also, what would an Enlisted person have to do in order to receive one of the Kite or other orders? Are those for valor or military merit?
    8. This is the first time I have seen these insignia. I really like the tank patch a lot. Very impressive collection.
    9. Very interesting topic. Where are CONSTABLE 135.H CHARLEY SMITH's medals located?
    10. I have never heard of a medal revoked for a fight with an officer before.
    11. I love the dark olive green. I assume that this is the color for medical troops too? Thank you.
    12. So unissued specimen go for 3200 E? What is a going price for an issued and engraved medal?
    13. I wish our ships would allow its return. We never brought it back in the US after Prohibition was reversed.
    14. It is interesting to see the metal oxidation on the WW1 Victory Medal ribbon. It must have been stored with the medal resting on it for many years.
    15. Interesting item. I wonder if it was a US WW2 surplus item?
    16. Thanks Tony. I agree with OSTA. Your cross is a perfect beauty.
    17. Hello Patrick. What a great discovery. I look forward to seeing this thread develop.
