    1. Owain, Thank you for posting this amazing grouping! He has more Iraqi medals than British. Did he serve as a military doctor, or a purely civilian role?
    2. That would be cool to find out. I have not seen one of these uniforms before. have you?
    3. Congratulations on finding such a rare addition!!! Next stop is finding one of those tunics and visors!
    4. Well the top awards are: Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class Bravery Medal- x2 Order of the Red Star- x3 Order of Homeland Defense 3rd Class Order of Honor Military Merit Medal Border Guard Service Medal Lenin Centerian Medal Victory over Germany A couple of Commemorative Medals Victory over Japan A bunch of commemorative medals(anniversary of WW2 and of the Red Armed Forces) Several rows of various of medals from several communist nations(east Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, and etc). I think that this is a feasable grouping, but I am worried about the DDR 20 year Service medal at the bottom....
    5. It seems that there are casting pits on the back of the order...... is this just me?
    6. I just read the details of this uprising. I had never heard of it before. What a waste of a legendary figure. He would have most likely played a huge role in the formation of the Luftwaffe.
    7. Thanks Lilo. This entire thread is great! I have read it a couple of times already. I am glad that this group is in the hands of someone who appreciates it!
    8. Wow! That is a lot of government service! Why are there two of the medals with the white eagle and red ribbon in different places?
    9. How are multiple awards of the Croix de Guerre represented on the medal/ribbon bar? I have noticed that over time, the ribbon type has changed. Did the awardee wear the ribbons that are current in effect for the award, or he wear the different ribbons as awarded, meaning that he would be wearing two different ribbons for the same award.
    10. Very impressive!! I have not seen a few of these before. I love the citation papers. Thank you for sharing.
    11. I would think that the homefront women who contributed to medical services would have most likely received the various grades of the DRK medal. What do you all think?
    12. Thanks Pete. Stinks that these pilots did not receive the pay and prestige of their officer counterparts. I like the leather cap the pilot in the photo is wearing.
    13. You too Larry!! I hope that you have a very Happy New year. You are so lucky to have found this book. I would venture to guess that these prewar books were printed in much smaller numbers than the war year versions. I am sure that you will be able to find them!
    14. I sincerely look forward to seeing what you find. Can you see if they have anything about medical or dental specialists? The Angolia book lists one, that was used prewar(blue nebenfarbe).
    15. Since they were front line nurses, I would bet that they all received the combattant ribbon for their EK2.
    16. What was the role of these pilots? Battlefield observation? What types of planes would they fly?>
