Hi Dudeman, There is no need to be so harsh to Rick. He spends countless hours doing translations to the benefit of others, while asking for nothing in return. His Russian language skills are self learned, so mistakes do happen. From what I understand, Russian is not an easy language to conquer. Despite the fact that we have more than a handful of native Russian speakers, none that I know of have routinely taken the time to assist members with tranlating their documents/research(and free of charge!). Rick takes hours of his time selflessly translating documents, to help his friends and fellow forum members. Please cut him some slack. If you would like to assist our fellow members with translation services, I am sure that both they and Rick would be most appreciative. regards Paul

Maybe the the ribbons were stored next to something that rusted? It looks as if the bar was kept in a damp environment. I have seen lots of old blood stains before, and the stains really does not look like blood to me. I would think that he would have replaced the ribbons(at least) had they been so damaged in battle.

I have never seen the two combat badges worn together either, but I think that there is a possiblity that someone was wearing them as pictured. Do you remember if he was assigned to flak units his entire time in service, or was he transferred to a Field Division unit?

I dont know anything about SS, but I have heard that SS stuff is reproduced very well. Those would have fooled me!
