    1. Bob. Thanks for sharing those wonderful photos. I really do appreciate the detail of the hand embroidered banners, like the one you have in the OP. They dont make things of that quality for the military anymore.
    2. For such an unusual award, I would have been very tempted to buy this one too. This looks like the award is the original, by the patina. I bet that they found the storeroom where they found a ton of confiscated awards and found an opportunity to free up some space. I have never seen a number stamped into an order like that. I wonder what number USED to be there before it was reissued?
    3. Rgr. I want to do what I can to preserve it. Thank you for the tip.
    4. The shape actually reminds me more of a Mother's Cross than an EK. Perhaps it is the blue that sets my mind in that direction...?
    5. Thanks George. It still smells heavily of old tobacco smoke and sweat.
    6. Now that you mention it.... this is maybe the first Army set I have seen. I just never thought about it. Most of the mounted sets I have seen were from the Naval branches(Marines, Navy, and Coast Guard). Do you think that this was his pre-2001 bar? Everyone received that darned GWOTS Medal in 2002 or 2003, right?
    7. That is a great pre 11Sep2001 medal grouping. Are mounted enlisted groupings really that rare?
    8. This is my latest Coast Guard related item. This is an awesome named WW2 Commander's overseas hat with a lot of patrol time at sea.
    9. Research can be really addicting... KGB agent, submariner, general, sniper, who really knows until you do the research. You are right... it can be totally addicting. In regard to that mark, I cannot tell by looking at the photo. Please do post a close up, if you get a chance.
    10. I will look forward to the release of your new book. Please let us know when it is out.
    11. That is a unique and awesome write up. Lots of great long service awards too(Combat Service Medal, ORS, and ORB).
    12. Nick, Sorry for the late reply. I have been really busy with college and work. Those are some great grenades. Can you tell us about the markings? They seem to be a little different from one another.
    13. Hi Eric, I am still not a fan of the outer piping on the linked tabs. Robin, what are your thoughts? Regards Paul
    14. Larry! That is a really awesome photograph. I actually like it a lot. What is the lower badge he is wearing? Is there anything written onto the reverse?
    15. It looks like a regular Internal Troops MVD cap. I think that Armor has a black body band.
    16. Yes...there are definite signs of alteration on the numbers of the two orders.
    17. I think that the rusting/aging looks too new(red). I would be interested to see the inside of the helmet.
    18. That is another great set Mervyn. Are these modern British groupings popular? I remember that not too long ago, the British Iraqi Service Medal was going for a very high price(named of course).
