    1. Auxillary to a Transportation Speer unit? A couple more tunics that would be deemed "Post-war messed with" in today's market.
    2. According to what I've read, 26,116 Spanish Crosses of all types (not including NOK medals) were awarded, and this lines up with the total number of LC volunteers involved in the war (1936-39). So I think the answer is yes - all LC members received a Spanish Cross of one type or another.
    3. I noticed that one too - very unusual. Also interesting one is wearing a pistol and the other a dagger. The photo of the fellow with the silver Spanish Cross without swords is a scarce one - my sources show only 327 of those were awarded. Great group of photos - thanks for sharing them!
    4. Great collection Eric - get well soon!
    5. Wow - there's the makings of a nice collection in those boxes/mounts. Can't wait to see the "after" shots!
    6. Wow - now with the RK and a couple of promotions. Very impressive.
    7. Ha! I thought the exact same thing when I saw the photo. Would love to see a sharp close-up of his ribbon bar - he looks to have 6 non-German awards (we know at least one is the Spanish Campaign medal...)
    8. Excellent work. I really like your illustrations
    9. Oh great, another variant cross I need to add to my want list...
    10. I noticed the "super C" glider patch as well - would like to have one of those. The guy in the lower photo of post #141 looks like a young Kirk Douglas (the actor) - he's wearing his LW qualification badge above his EK1...
    11. Great thread - I've learned much. Funny that the "Small 4" fake is noted for having the 4 smaller than the 0. This is the norm for most standard fonts/type faces... round/rounded characters (letters and numbers) are usually a bit taller than angular characters. It's a trick of the eye - if all characters were exactly the same height, the round/rounded characters would appear to the eye to be a bit smaller.
    12. I'm with Chris - I've never been able to crack the 'good/bad code' on these either. My guess is there are small details no one wants the fakers to know about.
    13. Even in cardboard, It's probably outside by budget for an 1870 cross... (Nice item by the way)
    14. Any opinions on the authenticity of this bar? (not mine) Period made or recent put-together? Such a bar would be for a company-grade officer, correct? Thanks!

      First Prize

Beautiful! What is the size? Is the colorful center made up of those glazed tiles?
