    1. Nice pics!! Thats the Hessen military merit cross. Baden 1914?? Sorry. No. Best, Daniel
    2. Who knows? Adolf v.S. was already a Lt at the outbreak of the war. A Württemberg Cross of Merit would have been awarded to an NCO type, so it is simply impossible that he's got one. Best, Daniel
    3. Goodness, Claudio... Thats the normal jubilee medal which EVERY active Officer got... The painter was not overly careful. I am very sure, no bavarian would leave away his homeland jubilee medal but wear a foreign centenary medal. Best, Daniel
    4. Hi Twin, the publishing date in the Staatsanzeiger was the 07th. September 1918. The Staatsanzeiger was always a bit faster than the Militärwochenblatt. So he's got it alive and most likely already end of August. :-) Best, Daniel
    5. Me. ? there are all, or most, of the Austro- hungarian awards files of WW1 still in the war archive Vienna. Unfortunately, for this case, I have had only access to the lists for Prussian officers. best, Daniel
    6. Hi Twin, thanks!! Franz Francke is a period mistake - actually not himself, but this award listing... He's got a Red Eagle 2nd class with cutlery in 1916. Best, Daniel
    7. Major Franz Bernhold from IR 125, lived 1873-1940 EK, Württ. Mil.Merit Order, Württ. Frederick knight 1st with cutlery, Württ. Officers long service cross, Bav.Mil.Merit Order 4th class with crown and swords, Saxon Albert knight 2nd class, Hamburg Hanseatic. Best, Daniel
    8. Hello friends, It seems there was a need for Tamara ribbons in germany in the 20ies and 30ies. This is from the stock of a well known German outfitter. 27mm, 15mm and 9mm Tamara ribbons. Funny enough, Mr. G. sorted these among "Russia", Best, Daniel
    9. It MIGHT be Lt d.R. Franz Schweitzer, the only Officer who got the Wilhelm Ernst Cross serving in MWK 221. Best, Daniel
    10. Fake news! If Rick said, Ludendorff did never smile, he did not!!! That are definetly photoshopped pics!! :-) Best, Daniel
    11. Hello Friends, As I sm a ribbon bar freak too, I would like to show you one of my favourites. It is a Godet made piece and was worn by Colonel Christian von Pentz, son-in-law of Field Marshal von Hindenburg. In WW1, the then-Rittmeister von Pentz served as Hindenburgs Adjutant. Best, Daniel
    12. Wow! Never heard of posthumous awards like that! Will check if I have anything more about him. I think it is possible, that the award was already done as he was still alive but the procedure took too long that that nice cross reached him in lifetime. BTW, 117 and 118 were both Hessen regiments and in the very same brigade, so a transfer was quite thinkable. Best, Daniel
    13. Hi Gunnar, thanks a lot! Albrechts were indeed handed out during the end of the war without being properly published. All the best and stay safe! Daniel
    14. @Gunnar, do You refer to Fischer or to Ammon? In my files I do not have an Albrecht for Ammon, but I have some "suspects" units for Mr. Fischer. Best, Daniel
    15. Its Karl Will. He commanded 2nd Reiter Regiment in the early 30ies. 3rd Ribbon is the Hamburg Hanseatic cross. Plain red is the Franz Joseph knight. Best, Daniel
    16. Claudio, I would not care for the 70/71 stuff. His more interesting career path was in the colonies... :-) Best, Daniel
