Correct Wessel. An ordinary NSDAP party pin would not be allowed; but the Gold Party Badge was an official award for significant contributions to the party. Note it's precidence above the Iron Cross 1st Class.

    PS: Nice photos!

No names on the backs of those GPB holders' photos?

Ordinary Party pins were allowed--indeed, required--on PARTY uniforms, but not allowed on Wehrmacht ones. The difference is the Gold Party Badge's status as an official decoration.

More great photos. Love the 'cut-out' WWI wound bage on the last one, and it looks like his EKI may have burnished highlights on the core.

I noticed the "super C" glider patch as well - would like to have one of those. The guy in the lower photo of post #141 looks like a young Kirk Douglas (the actor) - he's wearing his LW qualification badge above his EK1... :shame:

One of my favorite group pictures, this one was taken by a studio in Magdeburg. Some of the Luftwaffe "old guard". Note several PLM winners and also those wearing the Richtofen commemorative cufftitles. Bruno Loerzer in the middle.

A pity I can't run this larger -- it has amazing quality, clarity, and detail.
