Hello Harry,
My name is Rishi and i am working on 1961 Goa conflict as a side project.
If ever someday i am able to put up some decent work, i woud like to put it up as pdf for readers or maybe publish some copies. I wish to be neutral and put in more of Portuguese side of the stories which are lacking in all the books published in india or by indian authors.
Is it OK if i save the pictures shared by you on forum and use them in the book?Pics shared on sagongs forum
Do i have your kind permission for the same?
I will be greatly thankful to you for the same.
Regards,
Rishi -

Hi Tom,
The one I currently use with my late Victorian Met kit is a cast copy by a chap in the UK called Neil Storey. He is the maker of one that Dave Wilkinson was singularly unimpressed by on a recent thread on the subject of these plates. Neils are pretty good for most purposes, but all are cast with the number H171.
I actually acquired an original from the US only the other day. I'm thinking of looking into how difficult it would be to get a 3D scan done of it and then have (blank) plates done in 3D printer. Unfortunately that will probably take some time, and I'm in no rush to start.
Worth pointing out that the type of crown used on this plate is generally known as the "Guelphic" crown. The standard QVC being the one with the edges bulging out further over the base (as, confusingly, used on the tunic buttons of the same period).
Hope his has been of help.
Andrew.

Dear Glenn J,
I am a history student writing my Master thesis about German colonial soldiers in the colony of German East Africa. During my research I came upon a fellow named Walther Engelbrecht (a Leutnant) who was in East Africa with the Sea Battaillon. Google brought me to an old post of yours on this website (2 Sep 2007) which contains a lot of information on Engelbrecht. I am very grateful for this information and I wonder whether you could tell me what your source is?
Many thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
Tom Menger

Hi Brian,
It's good to hear from you again. I know what you mean about some collectors pontificating and being aggressive as well as others trying to buy the medals from you. I've only sold one medal to a man who ended up presenting to the original recipient. Recently I have been approached by another regarding a new Zealand Vietnam pair, and yet another whose grandfather's uncle's medals grace my collection. Both were gracious, but I was firm that I would not sell, but if I did, if contact them and they don't know me other than by my moniker Azyeoman.
I am looking forward to reading your about your new acquisitions!
All the best, John

Yes maybe a misake on my side to use my name on Forums.
Will be on Night Shift in a few weeks time and will hopefully manage to add one or two to the album.
Your collection blows me away...and I was looking earlier at your amazing German collection. Trully awesome to say the least. I have a very small collection of German medals, we do not see too many out here.

Brian

Hi there, Old news I know but I read in a posting that you bought off ebay a coronation medal for a casualty of HMS Hogue. Do you have the name or any details of who the medal was for?
Thanks

Hi Martin, my word that is a blast from the past. It's a medal I sold (and have regretted in later years). From what I recall he was a City of London bobby. I feel sure I would have threaded something about him on here. Leave it with me I'll have a look through my old threads and see if I can find him. Regards, Gordon.
Hi Martin, hope this helps.............
Able Seaman William Drayner, he was K.I.A in Sept 1914, when HMS Hogue was sunk in the North Sea. He was a reserve sailor, who had joined in about 1899, and left in 1910, to join the City of London Police, I know he is entitled to the 1911 Coronation medal. He was then recalled to the colours, in 1914, having been a Bobby for 4 years.
Regards,
Gordon.

Hello Paul,
how are you? I just wrote a short text for my planned medal bar book about Rechnungsrat Wilhelm Bergmann. You mentioned in your thread the written name "Bergmann" on the back of the photo. The picture of him and his wife you sold me together with the bar is without any text on the back. Do you remeber how this comes? Have you another photo of him or was the picture glued on a paper or carton with a name on it before? I only want to know this, if somebody ask, how I came to the name.
Thanks and regards,
Tilo.

Hm, you showed the bar of Rechnungsrat Wilhelm Bergmann here in the GMIC in 2008 and in my personel documentation it is noticed, I bought this bar and the photograph in February 2011 from you
