    1. Thanks for showing, BW Wehrpässe are a quite interesting topic! Do you have more to show?
    2. No, the "Defensive Sector" clasp was for any combatant soldier not participating in a battle recognized by a specified clasp, but in any other combat operation. A soldier staying at home would´nt receive a clasp. http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/Catalog/Heraldry.aspx?HeraldryId=15283&CategoryId=4&grp=4&menu=Decorations%20and%20Medals&ps=24&p=0
    3. I´m searching for more in-depth information on the Oberrheinisches Infanterie Regiment 99, especially during the period 1915-1918, because my great-grandfather served this regiment. The internet so far provided only the most rudimentary information (Zabern affair, organisation etc) and I would be glad to get some more information.
    4. Very nice & interesting group in great condition! Thanks for showing!
    5. I don´t think, this could be the right Fritz Hammer, because he was killed in an accident on the 22. of september 1918 as a lieutenant. http://des.genealogy.net/search/show/6942126
    6. Soldiers who served since 1914 were awarded the DA for 9 years in 1918, because of the double counting of war years.
    7. Shame on me, that I´ve missed this thread until now!! Here are my two coins: Above: Gebirgspionierbataillon 8 (Mountain-Engineer-Bataillon 8) The unit where I did my military service Below: Pionierbataillon 905 (Engineer-Bataillon 905). The unit where I´m doing my reserve training exercises.
    8. On a german forum I´ve seen an award-recommendation-document from 1917 expecially for men heavily wounded in action in 1914 and 1916. So I would propose, there was, maybe from 1917 onwards, really the possibility to award the EK2 like it was done in WW2!
    9. Very interesting, thanks for posting! Quite strange, that he was twice decorated but never made Gefreiter!!
    10. Very nice documents, I´ve never seen a shooting citation for Luftwaffenhelfer before!!
    11. @ Jock Auld On page 14 (picture 8) of your Verwendungsbuch is the Medaille für Deutsche Volkspflege listed. The entry with the red stamp from Lublin.
    12. A veteran picture of him, say from the 1950s, with his WWI Hindenburg Cross and his WWII War Medal would be great!
    13. Very interesting Militärpaß! Maybe his late EK1 was a delayed WWI award, they had a lot of medals which were recommended in 1918, but never awarded or only later during the early 20ties.
    14. Very impressive medal bar! I´m more and more considering a try in 2015 ....
    15. Yeah, I know this site, it´s great! A little correction to my statement above: The application forms were available in August and the first shipment of citations and awards were announced for Sept. / Oct. I also think, that a late September / early October date would be the earliest to expect, at least for the rank an file.
