    1. I think this one was identified @ 10 years ago. I seem to remember fondling this ribbon bar (gently- and I think he made me wear gloves too) in a parking lot in Lowell @ a decade ago.
    2. yeah- it is a perfect group-esp. with the tags. What is a railways-vorsteher? Stationmaster? Actually, they are kind of rare-like the man said, how many have really survived? Even at a 60% survival rate, there aren't many..esp. as all of us want at least one in our collections.
    3. Has it come home yet? RR told me who it is......... :Cat-Scratch:
    4. nope- Mecklenburg LS- see the "AN NCO THAT MADE GOOD" thread in Imperial German research- #5 is the 1849 medal...very unusual. I spent a small part of yesterday reading about the Mecklnbrg- Schwern aid to Baden during the revolution.
    5. Well, I do not. I have the cards, but not the passbook. Wow! Was that hiding in one of the tubs? ...underneath all the Bulgarian stuff?
    6. wow! Interesting that he got 3rd and 2nd classes of the DRK medal.
    7. wow- he was hard core- in the Putsch as well. Died of an intestinal disorder after an operation. I am certain Miller's CD has his file. He is in the rangelisten for 1914, but sadly most of his awards came after 1914.
    8. Good Lord! Can we please at least see his medal bar? What a career your Grandfather had!
    9. Good God! Where did you get that!??? :jumping: Do I read that correctly that his Mum was Jewish?
    10. Congratulations!!! That was quite a collection that was sold. I wonder to whom it belonged? The French stuff was amazing too and the Ethiopian brought tears to my eyes.
    11. Isn't his file one of Mike Millers' SS officers series? It MUST (almost certainly) be something foreign. I think I see a device ("v" shaped?) on the ribbon. Could it be a Hungarian WW1 commemorative? I think I discern a slight "ladder" in the middle.
    12. whoa- can we see the ribbon please? D-K-F-V- Hmmmmmm...Deutscher Kreig F- Verein? Are those the initials of the Kaiser and his bride? Definitively imperial given the crown- but veterans or commemorative?
    13. That second ribbon on the bar is a real mystery-and made me wonder if its another sighting of the Hohenzollern mystery ribbon that Tyanek posted lasted month. I am beginning to wonder if that was a regimental diploma medal.
    14. Here is a DDR Technische Unteroffiziersschule ASG Prora II medal: "For socialist body-culture". It's actually quite larger and worn as a neck medal.
    15. I noted that we got nice things said about us on the US Militaria Forum as well! ...except for Chris of course.....
    16. In a word- WOW!! What this man saw-
    17. Ok- I HAVE to ask....."why do you ask"?
    18. You know, I know almost nothing about these sport badges, except they were obviously a HUGE example of the Marxist notion that citizenship was participatory, rather than decision-making. Is there a book on these badges at all? What were the requirements for the DDR sports badges? Did Russians,Ethiopians, Hungarians, Czechs, Bulgarians and Poles get them too? Any examples to British fellow travelers perchance?
