    1. i'll give you $300 for it, no questions asked.... very fine aquisition, and in a fashion which gives all of us hope that there is a "diamond in the rough" out there waiting our eyes! joe
    2. not being one of the abzeichen which was produced from high quality materials, you've managed - as usual - to find quite a striking example of this issue!! well done! joe
    3. LOVE the crown! from the muffin crown to the.... toilet plunger crown???!!??.... joe
    4. not official, but what an amazing array of workmanship, materials, design, and execution. very collectible, and THOUSANDS of variations! joe
    5. made, but seldom worn, and in magnificent condition. one could hardly do better, regardless of size! joe
    6. richard...... are you TRYING to drive me crazy?????? very, very nice!!! joe
    7. "NUTS!!" wish i coulda' been there to see: -the americans laughing -the germans scratching their heads. joe
    8. beautiful! worth refiring your interest in EK's! joe
    9. aside from my beloved EK's, the Ehrenpokal (alpaka OR silber!!) and the DK (gold OR silber!!) are my favorite TR awards. both of these goblets are wonderful! joe
    10. nice, original, 1914 EK 1, obviously worn with pride! nice addition to any collection. joe
    11. much appreciated, mott! i have recently seen one of these and thought this might be what you were referring to. EXTREMELY well made and assembled, what you might expect from an artisan trained and practicing in the imperial, weimar, and early TR eras. again, my thanks! joe
    12. mott- can you tell me what you mean by " hinged pieces"? any information is helpful. i hope you are able to find some info re: Herr Loy! joe
    13. love the W-I-D-E flange almost as much as i love the narrow flanges of some of my 1914 EK's. good pickup, danny! joe
    14. HEY! i'll come over and mess around. but it won't be with your camera!! great shots, and provocative! joe
    15. godet with fangs is ABSOLUTELY private purchase, and could be expected to be seen on a wartime tunic. joe BTW, nice tunics!!
    16. i'm not sure there was a lot of uniform wearing in post-war germany. if you have a chance to visit any of numerous militaria sited with uniforms, you will see holes and sewn in medal bar holders on various tunics. to the extent that wearing of awards and decorations was common, you will also see this in pre-1914 uniforms. the same holds for the 1933-1945 era. joe
    17. these "fanged" awards, EK and non-EK, were part of an active officer's daily wear. they would have their tailor sew the holes for their wear into the uniform directly. good find, micha! joe
    18. nice find, stijn! FR and Fr are, i think, both accepted MM's for friedlander. any chance to find out the specifics of the recipients' involvement in WW1 was? thanks! joe
    19. Marvelous EK set-up!!! rare to have the possibility of establishing a link between initials and a manufacturer. from a practical standpoint: while CD is not the most common MM, i do see it very frequently. is there any way to find out whether this was an active, established firm? what a NICE find!! joe
