    1. W-O-W! What a grouping! That's a remarkable medal bar too: Schinkel EKII, all three 'flower' campaign medals, Hungarian (?) medal, two Spanish campaign medal ribbons with a substitute Memel (?) medal, and the Medalla Militar! An amazing find Jacques - congratulations! More pictures please!! Scott

      Republikan Medal

Thanks for posting your medal Micha, and for the background information Antonio - very interesting Scott
    3. Jacques, the crown on your wings and those shown in the photo look like the pre-1934/post-1975 type, no? Also, on your wings, I recognize the two-headed axe in the center, but what are all the other designs behind it supposed to represent? It looks rather crude compared to the wings in the photo. Scott PS: The 1./K88 tradition badge is superb!
    4. I bought that photo of the guy with the eagle on the wrong side a couple of weeks ago - I couldn't pass it up. Scott
    5. After playing around with my camera and a Silver Sp. Cross w/Swords on a tunic, I believe under certain lighting/focus conditions - like those in Jacques' period photos above - the eagle's tail will tend to fade out of the photo due to the brightness of the rest of the eagle/cross. In my fuzzy photo below, you can get the idea. Note how the tails of the eagles have nearly disappeared, taking on the look of droop-tails - when compared to the same cross in focus... Scott
    6. Were plain tab-back bars even made during the imperial era? I thought those were mainly a 1930s-40s style... Scott
    7. Several badges appear to have droop-tails (!). I'm sure Jacques will provide enlargements to set us straight Scott

      New pick up's

I thought the pilot wings had the propeller, and pilot/observer had the propeller and the star, which would lead me to believe observer wings has the star only, no? Scott

      SC in gold

      Superb! Scott
    10. Classic WWII-era 1914 cross by L/11. Interesting paint anomaly on the front. Nice find. Scott
    11. Here's a new one. I'll bet this Gerfreiter's Speiss gave him hell Scott
    12. I'm no expert, but I think it exhibits the characteristics of a late-war period case: paper hinge, no push-button, KB-stamped base, brown glue, etc. Scott
    13. I just picked up this La Cruz de Guerra document and photo from Jacques. Some references Jacques provided indicated Werner Steiner was a bomber crew radio operator in VB/88 and 4.K/88 while in Spain. The photo shows Steiner as a Feldwebel with an EKII ribbon, indicating continued service in the Luftwaffe to at least late 1939, but no other awards or badges are visible. He's not listed on my RK list. If anyone has further history or information on this person, I would be very interested to know about it Many thanks! Scott
    14. Your eyes are better than mine there. Can you make out what badge he's wearing or his ribbons? Scott
    15. Well, the swords don't match for a start... Scott
    16. Love the patina on the front of that one. Scott

      Spanish Pilot Wing?

Interesting - it does favor the lower of the two wings you posted. Scott
    18. Superb examples. 'Cord-stitched' LW insignia are my favorite! Scott
    19. It looks like the type of eagle used on the numbered Ground Assault Badges; however, I don't believe they were that color - I think they were usually black or silver. Scott
    20. Super-nice piece. Congratulations! Scott

      Spanish Pilot Wing?

Thanks Sal. Indeed, this one looks like something from a cerial box. However, it's resemblance to the cloth wing above is close enough to make me curious about it... Scott

      Spanish Pilot Wing?

Here's the Bevo (or Bevo-style) wing I'm referring to...
    23. I was surfing some dealer web sites and came across this wing. It looks like a metal version of the bevo wing worn by Legion Condor vets in period photos. Any thoughts on the authenticity of this odd wing? Thanks! Scott
