    1. An impressive grouping. The second medal is the Prussian Red Eagle Order, 4th Class. Kind regards Pierce
    2. I have been meaning to show this 6-er ribbon bar for some time now, and finally I get a quiet moment. Judging by the pin I would say it was made Godet. I assume the owner was some sort of doctor or medic type? Possibly Navy, given the black backing cloth?
    3. Very nice original ribbon bar. Kind regards Pierce
    4. Beautiful S&L Pour le Mérite. I am still searching for one myself. Is that the original case to the medal? Kind regards Pierce
    5. Hi David, Perhaps "The Complete Blue Max: A Chronological Record of the holders of the Pour le Mérite, 1740-1918" by Kevin Brazier? I read the one and only review on amazon.co.uk which states that the book deals mainly with airmen and no other branch, which is a little disappointing, though I believe some sort of a list of all recipients is attempted. Another is "German Knights of the Air 1914-1918" by Treadwell and Wood. This book deals solely with the airmen winners but I believe it gives biographical information as well as photos. Are there any books with information on all Pour le Mérite holders of WW1? Kind regards Pierce
    6. Gentlemen, I recently purchased this medal and ribbon bar grouping. The grouping was sold with this very nice box. The box has the word/name "Kragen" embroidered into the lid. Does anyone know what sort of box this is? I was thinking perhaps a small hat box. It would be interesting to hear others' thoughts. Kind regards Pierce
    7. Re: Post 152- von Schrader was not a PlM holder. That is the Johanniter Order pictured. This is a fantastic thread. I really enjoyed reading it.
    8. Quite something to behold! Kind regards Pierce
    9. Brilliant!! The second and third awards are really uncommon! Please feel free to tell us more about them. Kind regards Pierce
    10. Dear Tom, A fantastic medal bar, and in great condition. Congratulations on this latest acquisition. Best Pierce
    11. Thank you both for your opinions. I had assumed the Saxon ribbon was for the Honour Cross given its position on the second ribbon bar i.e. before the 1934 Honour Cross. An interesting point Dave. There are silver swords on the Schwarzburg ribbon on the top ribbon bar but the bottom bar used gold swords for both the Schwarzburg ribbon and the Honour Cross- I guess that was just what was to hand at the time. Either NCO, EM or Officer, I am happy with these little additions to my collection. Kind regards Pierce
    12. Dear Gentlemen, These two ribbon bars arrived here this week and I am very pleased with them. I do not have many ribbon bars with Schwarzburg ribbons. Do you think it is most likely that the Schwarzburg ribbon represents the Honour Cross or Medal? In your opinion, do you consider it uncommon to find a Saxon Honour Cross ribbon without swords? Kind regards Pierce
    13. Fantastic photo, with RAOwX on white/black ribbon!! Kind regards Pierce
    14. Dear Jock, Two nice original ribbon bars. Yes the Frontkämpfer ribbon is missing a swords device. Kind regards Pierce
    15. Thank you for your comments. @ Streptile- a beautiful example with swords! Kind regards Pierce
    16. Ah I know what this is!!! And it is not exactly what you would think! Nice pick-up! Pierce
    17. Claudio, You are spoiling us once more! What fantastic items and photos. Thank you! Kind regards Pierce
    18. A breath taking view from the castle...not to mention breath taking treasures within! Thanks for showing these Claudio! Kind regards Pierce
    19. Gentlemen, This RAO 4. Kl. arrived with me this morning. I have taken a few photographs and would like to hear your opinion on it. I got a few opinions before buying it, all positive, and would now like to hear from all within the community. This is the first such cross I have owned with "glatte Arme". There are no maker marks and the cross came with a nice piece of original ribbon. Thank you Pierce
    20. Great thread! I thoroughly enjoyed viewing these photos. Kind regards Pierce
