sambolini
It is certainly a nice EK1. Maybe some hardcore collector wanted it to fill a hole in his collection. Regards, Sam K.
christerd
1500 Euros of course an unusual EK I but still a EK I , what next ? 300 Euro for a Ehrenkreuz with a rare maker ? Maybe a EK II document folded in a strange way or written with red ink ? Heaven is the limit

And, of course, there must have been another collector who had to drive this bid up.
JimZ
At that price I expected it to be an earlier cross than a 1914 EK1!!! Is the world going crazy or what??
Christian J
I would not call it a record. I remember this funky EK from December last year. A whopping 1823E. But it certainly is a insane price for a J H Werner. This were up two years ago and reached the moderate price of 478E. A damn shame I was outbid on it. saschaw
Yes! Probably all those insane results from the last months, on eBay and at Munich auctuions, are fakes. Kay, you must be kidding. It's nothing new people are paying top prices for stuff they believe to need.
Eric Stahlhut
yep, it's a conspiracy...the fake manufacturers are driving up prices on real items in order to make their products more appealing to the average consumer :speechless1:
saschaw
I was referring to the results being fakes (sorry if I was unclear), but your idea isn't bad either. ;) Edited August 19, 2011 by saschaw
