Chris Boonzaier Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Some guys are very, very, very brave... and In the eye of the storm (25 June 1916 at Fleury for example) They get buried by shellfire, dig themselves out, then under heavy shellfire they dig their comrade out, then report to their CO and insist they are still fit for duty, go back into the battle to find the unit relieving then and guide that unit into position kinda Brave... ... and some of us are brave enough to buy a superb group... no matter what the hell the wife has to say 'bout it.... I was the 2nd kind of brave this week.....

Is that a wound badge for actions in WWII?

HI, nope, when Hitler came to power Uniforms and Medals became important and Interesting again... SA, NSFK, NSKK, Postmen, Firemen etc. etc. were all wearing medals again, something noone was interested in in the 15 years before that... so you see a lot of these 1930s wound badge docs for guys who were awarded the badge (or in some cases should have gotten it but had demobilised and could not be bothered to chase one down) and had no proof... so they applied for these docs confirming their entitlement top the wound badge...
dond Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Nice to see that it has stayed together all these years.
VtwinVince Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Holy cow Chris, that is an incredible Nachlass. And getting it past the wife can be an event for which an award should be recommended, believe me I know.
waldo Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Hello Chris, a very nice group. Nice that you got it. Congratulation. greetings from Bavaria
Chris Boonzaier Posted February 26, 2019 Author Posted February 26, 2019 How much "more Alpen" can you get than this? He suffered a wound to the chin/Jaw in 1917 that kept him in hospital for almost a year... I am assuming the beard was not only traditional, but also partially to hide the wound....
Stogieman Posted February 26, 2019 Posted February 26, 2019 Tough to find a SBM with documents, I've only had one group like that ever!
jeffskea Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Very nice group Chris, Out of curiosity, who is the maker on the Hindenburg Cross? Jeff
