    1. The big question for me is.... how many guys are rich enough to simply leave this in a drawer and order a completely new bar when they get a new medal? These things cost real money back then... and officers were not all running around with pockets full of money. Why not bring these in and say "remount with this single anschluss please..." I have all my medals double... but only because I am a collector!
    2. I have seem this with document issues as well, replacment although the originalis there... I assume someone cant find something, gets a new one, then finds the other one... Its the reason i have about 5 pairs of gloves :-)
    3. A wild guess... but for me it does look period... I am always a bit sceptical when the rings are open like that. Back then was still craftsman time... most awards have the ring soldered closed. What exactly is the medal?
    4. That is a very nice box, is it a generic award box or did the austrians have different boxes for different medals?
    5. I am a big fan of how bars would have looked in November 1918, Some people dont mind the Hindy cross from the 3rd Reich Period, Some prefer association medals added, Some Like the Hungarian etc etuff on them... All a question of taste... Is there a specific medal where you think "Ugh!" I wish that was not on... ?
    6. More than neat! I love the wartime, or just postwar before any of the "other stuff" came on....
    7. Its great to see someone get back into the hobby, to many leave it :-( Best Chris
    8. I have merged a number of threads, some long forgotten. There is an obvious downside, smetimes it is not possible to see right off the bat which comments relate to which buckle, but I had to take tha into account as some of the single buckle threads were lost waaaaaay back in the back pages.
    9. Super, I had a brain fart and forgot this one when i commented the still unfinished one...
    10. I bought my first Freikorps piece in 1969. But, I wouldn't presume to call myself an expert, as I still make mistakes and am always learning something new. 1969! You are one old the old guys! For some reason i thought I was no longer the youngest on the forum.... 1969, I was just out of Dadsbag on the way to making my debut on the world stage! You have been doing Freikoprs for a long time!!
    11. I agree, I have dozens of Regt histories from them. Best Chris
    12. Wow, that is a "first display case as you come into the museum" group if ever I saw one. I wonder if he was miffed when the war came around and he could no longer wear such a nice award! ;-)
    13. The print on this doc you know from the Sturmbataillon Rohr docs Here http://www.kaiserscross.com/40029/441101.html But here is the same for a citation for fighting in flanders....
    14. I used to have 2 or 3 Hilfkreuzer docs, unfortunately I did not photograph them back then... but here are some not bad ones.... Grossdeutschland
