    1. Hi Paul, in Germany we had and have for Admin Officials (civil servant) a ranking system, divided in four groups: Einfacher Dienst = lower service Mittlerer Dienst = middle service Gehobener Dienst = upper service H?herer Dienst = higher service Please see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beamter In the upper service you can see the Amtsrat (A 12), in the higher service you can see the Regierungsrat (A 13). Regards Uwe
    2. Hi, it is not Pte, it Bte, brevet? = patented. S.G.D.G = Sans Garantie Du Gouvernement = patented without the guaranty of the government Please see here, LZT003: http://www.bullworks.net/cssales/lzt01.htm and here, the fourth picture: http://www.muesch-online.com/federzunge.html Regards Uwe

    5. Hi, could it be, that all these crosses here in this thread are not awarded crosses? These are awarded crosses, awarded to a high ranked General. Allways the same cross, only the center medaillon changes. See the ring, flat oval! Regards Uwe
    6. Hi, Collectors should better accept, that there is not only one original medal, and, more important, that both types, laid back and upright "G", exist as original and as copy/fake. This is a picture with 6 different period pictures of the Memelland medal: top row, from left to right: Doehle 1942 Meyers Lexikon 1940 Doehle 1944 bottom row, from left to right: Schickle catologue 1940 von Hessenthal/Schreiber 1940 Deumer catalogue, period before 1945, no year specification For the originality it is not important, to look only on the "G" or the "M", see the period pictures above: Differences in the G, the M, the ?, the 9, the acorns and/ore in the oak. It is more important, wether it is a stamped/coined (gepr?gte) medal or a casted (gegossene) medal. Stamped medals are rather bright, casted medals are rather dark. Regards Uwe
    7. Hi, it must be something like this, 75mm or 77mm, German: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.5_cm_FK_16_nA http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.7_cm_FK_16 Regards Uwe

    9. Hi Eduardo, "I understood that Elsenborn was in Liege province in Belgium. Why German stamp in 1910?" That is part of the French-Belgium-German history: Till 1795 the area was Luxemburgish. 1795 to 1814 the area was French. 1814 to 1920 the area was German. 1920 to 1940 the area was Belgium. 1940 to 1944 the area was annexed by the German. 1944 till present it is Belgium. The official language in this Belgium municipality is German! Regards Uwe

    11. Hi Rick. "But eCrap will NOT allow icky yucky swastikas to be shown... so that's OK." he does not show swastikas! "Criminal fraud? Eh, so what?" that is legal? That is the text to the Ordensspange in Post 2: 6er ordensspange eines offiziers. garantiertes orginalst?ck. versand gratis 5 bidders, actual bid 156 Euro, now 22 hours left. He receives the money and cannot dispatch the article, because he does not have the article. That is legal and not criminal? He just present some more upscale articles from the DDR and some more Ordensspangen. His offer encloses now 20 articles. Regards Uwe
    12. Hi, please see here, No. 19: http://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotviewer.ph...89&Lot=1189 I think, that the three ribbons are the ribbons of the three united lodges. Sascha, then one ribbon is absent there on your medal? Regards Uwe

    19. Hi Grant, Rick: "That is a remarkably nice case!" It could be, that the case does not belong to this NVA decoration. It is typically for MdI decorations, e.g. "F?r vorbildlichen Grenzdienst". You can find these old cases with press button in green, red, brown, blue, black, dark blue, in different design, with different inlay. My NVA/MfS cases (this type) are in brown, black and dark blue. Regards Uwe
