webr55 Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 (edited) We have two Lauteschlägers in the list, but I think this is a new one. In the list, we have: - Reinhard L., born 1872, in 1914 Hptm in FAR 61, held RAO4X and KO4X, among others. - Ernst L., born 1869, in 1914 Maj in IR 81. Both got the HHOX already in 1917. But then there is another one, in 1914 Olt dL in Landwehrbezirk II Darmstadt, from Artillery. It must be him. Regierungsrat and Hptm dL R. Lauteschläger (I don't find his full first name.) From Darmstädter Tagblatt, 9.11.1918 Ah - it's Rudolf, as per Adressbuch Darmstadt 1918: Edited December 20, 2021 by webr55 1
Mattyboy Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 I think this is Lt dR Philipp Höhn, brother? of Jasta ace Fritz Höhn. They both served in 7 Garde-Inf-Rgt.

webr55 Posted April 23, 2021 Posted April 23, 2021 (edited) Regional newspapers are one of the key sources to find new HHOXs. A number of us have now looked systematically through many newspapers, and I think it's time for a review: which regions are still (mostly or entirely) missing? In newspapers from which regions would it be most promising to still find new HHOX recipients (esp. totally new ones, not just first names, although those are certainly still very interesting)? Going again through this thread, I would say the status is this: Well covered already: Hamburg Hessen Baden Saxony (esp. Dresden) Fairly well covered: Nordrhein-Westfalen (ex. Münster and others, but some cities less, see below) Thüringen (only some parts, esp. Jena) Mecklenburg-VP (Stralsund, Greifswald) Oldenburg Straßburg East Prussia (Königsberg) West Prussia (Thorn) Posen (Bromberg, Posen) Silesia (Breslau) Less well covered: Berlin (esp. award notices) Cologne Württemberg, in particular Stuttgart Other Thuringian states Rheinland-Pfalz Fairly blind spots: Pomerania, especially Stettin Schleswig-Holstein Hannover/Braunschweig/Anhalt Unclear: Bavaria: Digitized libraries do not seem to turn up much, newspapers like Münchner Neueste Nachrichten are being digitized, but it is not clear to me anyway whether there are many Bavarian HHOXs missing I think what would be most interesting to look through is (digitized) newspapers from: 1) Berlin: while the Vossische Zeitung covers the death notices well, it does not list awards. It seems that the awards might be listed in the local Berlin newspapers from particular quarters of the city. Not sure. Any help welcome. 2) Württemberg: Stuttgart, anyone? 3) More Thuringian states: what about Schwarzburg, Weimar, Altenburg etc.? 4) Schleswig-Holstein: Flensburg, Kiel etc.? Especially award notices other than Navy. 5) Hannover / Braunschweig / Anhalt: any relevant newspapers digitized yet? I found that the Magdeburgische Zeitung/Anhalter Anzeiger is in the process, but apparently progress is very slow. Any directions or help where to find more: most appreciated. And of course, any other comments are welcome! Edited April 24, 2021 by webr55
webr55 Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 (edited) This should be a new one: Major dL Neßler, BatKdr in FußAR 5, from Wollstein: From Posener Tageblatt, 9.11.1918 Edited April 24, 2021 by webr55 1

Hi, If the newspapers from Thuringia are digitalized, give me the link and I will help you with that (pm me) About newspaper from Saxe, I have made choice to use only the Dresdner Nachrichten like from the beginning of the war they gave all informations about medals. I have made the year 1918, and all informations are now here on this topic. I have send here on the forum some photos of Saxon officers showing their ribbons or medals bars with HOH3X. don't forget the photos, they are an incredible source for us. Like I have little time, if I can help don't hesitate to use me Christophe 1
webr55 Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 (edited) Combined notice for two sons-in-law: Major Ulrich Blanck (we have him) and Hptm Paul Quandt (new first name, I think). From Posener Tageblatt, 1.10.1918 Edited April 24, 2021 by webr55
