Here's a piece I'd like to share with you now that I have a mannequin to display it on.

It's an untouched standard (not private) made fliegerbluse to a Hauptmann of flight.

There are a few collectors I'd like to thank for helping me with this one...

Firstly Fran?ois for locating it. After asking if he knew of any for sale he directed me to it through another collector. Also, Gene and Jos for taking the time and patience to look over the pics I had sent them and casting their expert eye over it in fine detail.

I'll let the pics do the talking.

    Now for the dilemma...

Obviously a piece like this needs to be displayed. My problem is that I don't know if I should give him:

    Pilot badge, or

    Pilot / Observer, or

    Observer, or

    Fallshirmj?ger

    Suggestions??

    Rich

ps that particular RK is not attributed.

    Prewar pilot badge!

:jumping: Beautiful tunic as well! It makes a great back drop for your RK.

Are there only one set of loops for a badge? A fallschirmjager badge would look great! Everyone adorns their flight piped officer tunics with aviation badges.

I thought that all glider pilots were NCOs?

Awesome early fliegerbluse! If you display it with the RK, I would suggest either a pilot or FJ badge, as I think pilots or paratroopers would be more likely to have won the RK (as opposed to an observer or AG/RO).

    Hello RIch,

Very nice 'Fliegerbluse', congratulations on that one

My suggestion => give the Fliegerbluse a Glider pilots badge

    Cordial greetings,

Stijn, thanks for the suggestion but alas I have no glider badge (I think you have them all  )

Paul, thanks. There is 2 sets of loops, 1 vertical and 1 horizontal. Fallschirj?ger is certainly a possibility!

    Yes, a very nice tunic.

For the price of a Pilot/Observer award you could get another tunic! Personally, I like the Observers best.

Thanks. I already have a pilot/observer badge so that not going to be a problem!

    Hello!

Amazing Fligerbluse.I like the Fallshirmj?ger badge best.

    All the best

Thanks, Kevin. I think your logic has a lot of sense. At this rank I think RO/AG would be inpossible. I believe he would had to have retrained at officer level to either observer or pilot.

A nice, thin pilot badge ................ and a shirt and a tie  .......... and a belt

    and if you have loops

    EK1 + fighter clasp

or ribon bar with minimum EKII (not optional)

Fran?ois, a belt is a possibility! I'll replace the shirt with one of a better colour eventually! :catjava:

    Rich

Superb!! :speechless1::love: The addition of an EK1, ribbon bar and perhaps a gold operational flight clasp would be all that?s needed.

Thanks John, much appreciated. As I do not want to alter the bluse at all I wont be adding any loops but I have and idea that involves dressmakers pins that might allow me to 'add' a few badges. Will keep you posted.

Superb blouse. Any LW badge would look good on it - put a different one on every month!

    Scott

Scott, thanks. Now there's an idea!!

    Hello,

@ Paul: "I thought that all glider pilots were NCOs?"

Nope, not correct, some where already in a officers rank when they did qualify for the glider pilots badge, several examples are known and one of the most prominent ones was for example : Egon Delica (who did win the KC ;-)), etc ....

    More examples can be given.

Do not worry Rich => there are still multiple glider badges out there, however they do not come out easy, thats for sure

    Cordial greetings

Very nice piece, Richard. I think you should do a recreation of my uncle as CO of 9. JG 3 in the summer of 1940, so you need EK 1 and Spange, PilotObserver (J1), Juncker WW 1 Pilot Badge, WW 1 Wound Badge in Black and a Feldspange. Or you give me the Fliegerbluse and save yourself the trouble......
