Silberstrand Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 (edited) Hi! What are your favorite Imperial militaria items? Which is prettier? Is that you like for aesthetic relationship, meaning and affordable price? Please opinions! Edited March 29, 2012 by Silberstrand
Claudius Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Hmmm…you did say "favorite". This all reminds me of a song. To the tune “My Favorite Things” as sung by Julie Andrews. Tsingtau doc. groups and South See Pacific, Army, or Navy flight badges to be more specific, Research on medal bars that make their owner’s sing, These are a few of my favorite things… Doc. groups and medals to observers or pilots, MPs and WPs with brave wartime highlights, Orders with gold marks stamped on their rings, These are a few of my favorite things… When the fake comes, When the group splits, When I was outbid, I simply remember my favorite things and then I don’t feel so bad. 4

M Hunter Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I collect Hanseatic Crosses. I like them on ribbons, ribbon bars, medal bars, etc. I collect them because in my eyes they are beautifully crafted decorations (as most Imperial awards are) and for the most part affordable. Best wishes Matt
saschaw Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Soooooooooo difficult question... You'll soon notice, Imperial awards is a slippery slope.
Scott Powell Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I have a weakness for the Kaiser Wilhelm I Zentenarmedaille
Jason Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I'm with Scott re the Centenary Medal...especially if its mounted in a nice colonial group  2
Silberstrand Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) Thank you for your opinions! My fauvorite item is the Iron Cross (I have one of the WW1, the other crosses like 1813 or 1870 are still quite expensive for me), but I am "open-minded" and I am interesting to know other pieces. Deruelle Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Hi, For me it is medal bars, ribbon bars, medals, pieces of uniforms of Kingdom of Saxe. Christophe
Jason Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I have another confession....i also have a real weakness for bars which include the good old Prussian Kriegshilfdienst Kreuz....I know, they're ugly and made from zinc, but they hold a real appeal for me :) 1

Claudius Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 The Enamel Work, the Wonderful Colours and the Proud History of it All. That's a great display you have! I see you don't like folding and threading the ribbons through the rings. Besides the 1K White Falcon mX, is there anything you are still in the hunt for? What do you feel is your "Moby-Dick" that you have long searched for?
Leutwein Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 my favorite imperial items are for sure.... ....colonial items =) Especially photos, certificates, estates and medal bars a nice photo for Jason, hope you´ll like it. Best wishes Karsten 1

Really for me it's about what turns up at a reasonable price. Still looking for Reuss, Waldeck,Lippe Detmold items though. Recently I thought I would have a go at EK equilvalents, but even these aren't that easy to find. Edited April 26, 2012 by Alan 1
