    1. That is a really cool looking group. It still bums me that they really cheapened some of the high ranking medals by awarding them for long service.
    2. Thanks! After searching forever, these CG groupings are starting to appear pretty regularly the past couple of months.. I like how this man had the "full house" for WW2 and Korean War service medals. The primary role of the US Coast Guard during the Korean War was the upkeep and maintenance of the aids to navigation in the friendly ports and seaways.
    3. Excellent topic and write up! Never heard of this incident either.
    4. Beautiful work Larry. I like the LWFD camo for the anti tank gunner!
    5. Agreed. You have a first rate bar. Is there a way that you can please take photos of the bar on a white or natural colored backing?
    6. I remember back in 1997, I met a veteran who showed up for a American Legion event in Ketchikan Alaska. What made him special was the fact that he was a German weapons armorer who claimed to work on Hermann Goering's plane during WW1. He was accompanied by his grandson, who supported his story. The man was very frail and did not speak much English. He was welcomed into the American Legion to partake in the festivities. I remember there being a lot of WW1 vets in my church growing up in the '70s and '80s. Sad that they are all gone now.
    7. Great photo! I notice that they do not have any combat decorations yet?
    8. Very nice collection of medals and insignia. I really like the medal bar a lot. It shows a long service time of home service.
    9. I am surprised that these items are being offered to the public... although, I am sure that the nation wants to put the two (President and his wife) out of the nation's history.
    10. That is a great assortment of awards. You participated in many flood relief efforts. What does your current medal bar look like?
    11. That is a huge price difference. As an exprienced collector of these medals, what are the biggest differences between the wartime(and earlier) and the post war pieces?
    12. It looks like a sweet piece. I would not know how to display it though.
    13. From what I can see, this uniform looks really nice. For me, the ribbon bar equates to the rank held.
    14. Arn't the prices about the same as the wartime pieces? After all, they were official issue to those who earned them back in WW1. Were there any significant design differences between the two eras?
    15. I think that the actual National Defense Service Medal was established a little after the Korean medals came out(just before the group was mounted). Or... he wanted to keep the five medals mounted on the bar that were most important(it costs more to start a second bar). Since everyone received the National Defense Service Medal, maybe he left it off to save a few bucks?
