This one we refer to as the triple threat.

One question, is the cross on the left a decoration awarded solely to females?

    cheers

    Hello Peter J,

To answer your question, according to Hessenthal/Schreiber - This decoration, the Honor Cross for the year 1870/71 was (translated) ?Founded by King Johann on 6 March 1871 for men, women and young ladies...?

I hope that this information is helpful.

    Best wishes,

I am sorry, but this information is not correct. The letter "E" ( for "Elisabeth"), 16 mm height, was not in the middle on the medal. It was only fixed with two splints on the ribbon of the award. As far as I know, there exists only a drawing of it, you can see in my book and find the original in my collection in the "Schlossmuseum Jever".

This piece has been posted previously on the Braunschweig thread, but since it is an award to a lady... Henry the Lion Order medal for Arts and Science, second class, second section.

Beautiful!! My cousin and I were at a show one time ten years back and I saw one with an EK2 and DRKm for $45. I didn't buy it as I thought it was some sort of 1870s commemorative. No knowledge=loss.

    Foolish, foolish ignorant me.

It's the beautiful one that got away.

    Superb piece. :Cat-Scratch:

    Congrats!

    Hi Joe!

It is, but sorry, nothing usefull on the back. The only thing we know is, that she lives in K?nigsberg. The picture came with a cross, but I?m afraid it is not hers, because of the different style of wearing the ribbon.

    Best regards, Komtur.

W?rttemberg, silver jubilee medal 1911. I like that slight Art D?co influence you find in some of the late imperial medals.
