speedytop
Hi, I think, that the name is Jastel. It can be the last name or a nickname. For me there is no "k" and no "b" in the name. Uwe
GreyC
I´d politely disagree. No Jastel in the Verlustlisten, WIA or KIA. As christian name highly unlikely. For me still Jakob. GreyC
Chris Boonzaier
Is the date of death the 13th or 15th? Hard to read.... I think the photo may be a Leib Regiment Photo. Very few guys were killed on the 13th... one of them is a man named Kastl, on the 12th a man named Jaser ... Maybe a spitzname for Kastl

GreyC Yup, it was for some reason a realiively quiet day as far as deaths went for the Leiber... so I included the 12th of July in my name search as well, Often guys wounded in the night before end up listed as dead on the next day. The Prussian
I also read Lenhard. The name ain´t too rare: https://www.kartezumnamen.eu/en/index.php?sur=Lenhard&s=Search By the way... Congrats to 28.000! Me, I did the 25.000th today in our forum! Edited March 2, 2019 by The Prussian
Chris Boonzaier
Hi, you are correct... I had the search done wrong, there are lots of Lenhard... but absolutely no Wendelin as far as I can see... 28 000 is a lot of life invested! :-) I guess wendelin had no WW1 Service
The Prussian
I don´t think either... The Stein is from 1899. By outbreak of the war he was around 36, so probably he served with Landwehr or Landsturm, if he did serve...

However, this gus is nowhere to be found, so I am guessing 1 of 4 things 1) He died before the war 2) He did not serve in the war 3) He served, but not in the Bavarian Army 4) Ancestry transcribed his name totally wrong. It happens quite often, and you can usually still find the guy with his first name and date of birth, but I checked 4 years of Wendolins and nothing to be found.
