      This box is for the large silver merit medal of Baden, but the earlier coinage of Friedrich I.

      Christer, the number could be the award number from the urkunde. If it is a good price, I would buy it. I have numerous third classes, but only one in silver-gilt.

      I recall this group was for sale at SDA for relatively cheap, but I missed it. My great grandfather was a Hauptmann in the same regiment.

      Any markings on this one? From the photos it almost looks silver-gilt, which is uncommon to find on the third class.

      Agreed, need more pictures, particularly of the reverse hardware, and front-on images of the obverse.

      Do you have a link to the auction? I have to agree with Alex, some aspects are different, and the color of the gilding looks funny, but I'm not much of an expert.

      SDA is Sammlergemeinschaft deutscher Auszeichnungen, a site with people who could tell you one way or the other.

      These 'Honig-Baeren', or Honey Bears, are extremely heavily faked. I would get one of the Anhalt experts from the SDA to have a look at it.
