Hagrid
Hey Hey! It´s been some time - but now I have two more interesting specimens of naval flight badges to show to you: Both are slightly "off-mainstream" but I like them a lot. These are hollow examples, which is seen not too often in "naval flight badging" The regular size has been heavily polished down to the brass, so that only little remnants of gilding are still visible. The prinzen size has the finish in the sun area cleared away, so the silver is showing (800 punch in the suspension) - maybe for a more dramatic look. I have no concerns regarding the originality of these badges, so I decided to post them here... Enjoy! Hagrid
jaba1914
Thanks for posting this nice badges on this thread. It is hard to keep alone this thread alive . The interest on navy aviation increased in the last years but not many pieces are displayed. Once I had a simillar badge but this is many years ago ? PiotrM
On 06/01/2013 at 19:16, jaba1914 said: I start this thread with a picture of an early navy airplane. It is a Taube in the navy version. This picture was taken 1913 at Puzig and show the later Oberflugmeister Erich Kästner (on the top of the a/c). Hi Alex, I'm looking for any information and pictures about the FBS Putzig to upgrade the forthcoming book. This picture is very interesting. Can you help? Luftmensch
I have never seen this Marine type of Taube...thanks for sharing!
jaba1914
Thanks John. This picture is amazing. @ Piotr What do you mean with FBS Putzig? Kind regards Alex
PiotrM
Alex, I mean about the Seeflugstation (SFS) Putzig and the Kampffliegerschule Fokker in Putzig. There is few of materials and lack of pictures. So your picture showing the Taube navy aeroplane is very rare. It will be very interesting that it could be published in better resolution Best regards Piotr
Luftmensch
Alex? Anyone? Any thoughts on this engraved Godet? 5.7 cm breit. I would love to know... 1. The year of these Danish hallmarks. 2. Anyone know who this Luftschiffer is? Maybe Signalmaat Ruskowski (from the other thread) who was interned in Denmark? 3. Anyone else seen an engraved Zeppelin on a piece of silver? This is the first I have seen. Thanks!
jaba1914
Very nice piece with lovely engraving. i have checked the Crew of L 4 and it is not Ruskowski because he wasn’t a Maschinistenmaat. Non of the Maschinistenmaate from L 4 looks like the guy from your picture. kind regards Alex
Luftmensch
Thanks for checking Alex. Maybe he was stationed at Zeppelin base Tonder, which used to be Danish territory before the war. But the piece was made after the war, so maybe he returned for a sweetheart there?!
