This is said to be the later General Erich Hassenstein, although his HOH3x does not appear in the 1927 ranklist

Rangliste 1931 (https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015035971087&seq=155&q1=Hassenstein&start=1) also shows Hassenstein without HOH3⚔ and VWA ... it is a great picture. Your man should be: Wilhelm Berthold Helmuth Beukemann

It appears to be Emil Otto Friedrich Koehler, *21.7.1884 in Alsleben, †15.5.1966 in Kaiserslautern. He was a Hauptmann (15.8.15) in FußAR 10 and commander of Fußartillerie-Bataillon Nr. 92 from May 1917 to war's end. A char. Major a.D., he was a civilian official in the Reichswehrministerium from 1926-33, an L-Offizier from 1933 to 1935, and then an E-Offizier. He was promoted to Oberst and transferred to the active officer corps on 1.8.1941. He was supposed to retire on age grounds in 1944, but he was considered essential. His last assignment was on 1.1.1945 as Stabsoffizier der Artillerie in the staff of the Festungs-Pionier-Kommandeur XXI.

Two images of Eugen Voelter, along with a close-up of the ribbon bars. The former shows a Feldspange with Württemberg precedence, the latter from 1938 shows "Reich" precedence. I suppose it's possible he would have changed the bar yet again after the Anschluß to move the ÖM3K ahead of the Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer, since it would no longer be a foreign award.

Further to my last post, it must be the handover of command from General von Brandis, to Oberst Erich Schickfus und Neudorff (with spectacles) and I believe the other chap is Oberstleutnant Paul Gerhardt commanding III./15.IR.

    Regards

    Glenn

A couple of pictures of Hans Gandert and his ribbon bars.

Great picture of Hans (or Hans-Eberhardt?)  Gandert, Dave! Do you happen to know, if he had the Ehrenbecher? According to Bundesarchiv, BArch RL 5/891, he also received the KVK (1939), 1st Class with Swords.

No Ehrenbecher is listed. However, Kogenluft recognized him with shooting down a Fesselballon, a Farman biplane, 3 S.E. 5 fighters, one Sopwith Camel fighter and two Bristol fighters.

His given names were Hans Eberhard. He signed his name with just Hans.

Two Eichlers - the Saxon Max Eichler and the Württemberger Gustav Eichler. Of note is the double Württemberg ribbons on Gustav Eichler's Feldspangen, which is technically incorrect, since his Militärverdienstorden was "an Stelle" his goldene Militärverdienstmedaille.

GM Robert Otto Rudolph von Wegerer (b. 28 August 1867; d. ??.??.1963), son of GM Rudolf Conrad von Wegerer, was Ehrenritter des Johanniterordens. If anyone has a complete list of his WWI decorations, I would really love to see that. Maybe also an exact death date?
