waldo Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Servus Scottplen, I don't like it at all. Hemmerle-MVKs 1st Class Krone Swords always have multi-part front medallions made of gold. There were no silver-gilt medallions. These MVKs are made with absolute quality. Compare my picture in the post above. Here are a few more examples of original Hemmerle medallions for this 1st Kr. X. Leser has one-piece front medallions made of gold, also of outstanding quality. Many greetings Walter 1
scottplen Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 I received it in a box lot of stuff so I did not pay much for it maybe $30 us . Is a a total fake or post WW1 for Spange ?
waldo Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 I can't answer the question. The swords are very early though.

The nicest of the gilt type, to be accurate... six years ago, I had an early WW1 era cross in gold by Gebr. Hemmerle as well. It was produced from an old Hausinger or Elchinger made cross by adding crown and swords, and maybe the flames as well, in case this originally was a knight's cross 2nd class. Authentic pieces of this rarity and quality are not often to be seen, which is a shame... because they're certainly fun! Edited August 4, 2022 by saschaw 2
eos512 Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 (edited) Hi guys I have acquired this MVO 2nd class last month. There is a GEB.H 750 stamp on the lower arm and a 585 inside of the ring. Can anyone help to identify the circa date of this? Pre-WWI or WWI period? And anyone knows where to buy an original ribbon for this MVO 2nd class? Appreciate your help, thx And I am also very interested in the hallmark on the ring (2nd picture). Anyone knows what kind of hallmark is it? Thanks Edited January 10, 2023 by eos512 1
spolei Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Hello, beautiful Hemmerle piece. It is an MVO with genuine gold medallions. The award period should be until the end of 1916, from then on silver-gilt pieces were officially issued. Of course, returned pieces may have been issued later. The MVO with swords should be from the war period. How is the band ring stamped on the inside? Regards Andreas

Correct me if i am wrong, it should be a genuine MVO2 in GOLD, right? And do you know where I can buy a ribbon of this one? Edited January 12, 2023 by eos512
spolei Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Yes, this is a real golden MVO. Finding a single ribbon will be difficult. Maybe ask Marco Kögl, he collects Bavarians himself and has a lot of Bavarians in his shop. http://mkoegl.de/ Greetings Andreas
eos512 Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 BTW Andreas do you know when and where will the new book on MVO from Sascha Zimmermann be available? Any news so far? Thanks
waldo Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 (edited) The book from Sascha Zimmermann is with the publisher and should be finished this year. Many greetings Edited February 5, 2023 by waldo 1

saschaw Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 (edited) Here's a knight's cross 2nd class, made by Adam Hausinger from Munich. Despite a total of more than 2,500 crosses without swords being awarded between 1866 and 1905, such crosses are quite hard to come by today. The explanation is rather simple: roughly 75% of these were returned and re-issued, altered or simply melted down, according to statistical works published by Bernd Döbel. Stogieman Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing this
larsb001 Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Absolutely not my main area of collecting, but when this turned up on a local auction I couldn't resist. It's a Knights cross 2nd class, it's Gold, but appears unmarked. It's in a Hemmerle case, at least marked so, so I assume it's a Hemmerle. But I would be happy if those in here with a good knowledge could add a few words in respect of period, maker etc or any problems with this piece? 1
drspeck Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Nice thread 😀 Don't know if I've posted this one before, but here's my small contribution 🙂 1
Christian1962 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 New book about the Bavarian MVO: https://www.militaria.at/Book.aspx?book=53654400&Language=de I think it's a very good reference book for all who are interested in that theme. Kindest regards Christian
