Hello Chris
I got in touch a while ago about some of your pictures of ski troops with kS98. My book on the kS98 bayonet is nearing completion and I wanted your permission to use the attached photo. It was a screen shot from your website and I think you were unable to find the original to send me a high resolution image - would love to get this if possible but can make do with what I have.
Best wishes
Allan -
Hello Mike,

Hello Glenn;
You were recommended to me as a great source for information and photos on German generals.
Are there any photos of Major-General Ernst Roessler?
He was an Oberst in 1912 with IR of Voigts-Rhetz #79(3rd Hanover) and reached the rank of Major General by WWI.
Please feel free to PM me.
Thank you,
Claudius

Dear Mr. 992F, I want to ask you a little bit about the order of the Cuban Red Cross. Was it established in 1909? What are the criteria for obtaining it? Do you have photos of European people wearing them?
-
Hello, Just saw your question. Cuban Presidential Decree 401 dated May 19, 1909 created the Cuban Red Cross Society as an independent organization linked to but independent of the Cuban government. The government approved establishment of La Orden de Honor y Merito de la Cruz Roja Cubano in 1913. Most sources agree on this information including From A Grateful Nation. However, some claim that retroactive governmental awards of the Order dated to as early as 1910. It is also possible that the Red Cross Society awarded the Order begining in 1909 before the government bestowed the Order. A news article dated May 1912 [https://books.google.com/books?id=rbxOAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA146&lpg=PA146&dq=order+Cuban+Red+Cross+bestowed&source=bl&ots=onZCXB_Dpt&sig=ACfU3U3mheXYdY3khFcqYpZMuPZC3m8M9Q&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwij9pqP9srnAhVBlnIEHVOwA9oQ6AEwBXoECAoQAQ#v=onepage&q=order Cuban Red Cross bestowed&f=false] reports award of Cuban Red Cross medals -- this seems to indicate that the Society presented the honor before the government.
Authorities seem to agree that both the Cuban government and the Cuban Red Cross Society awarded the Order. The question of when each entity started using the Order remains open
The Order recognized outstanding services with grades depending on the awardee's merits and social position. The government abolished it in 1978 and replaced it with a medal.
I do not have any images of people wearing the award to hand.

Dear sir, I don't know how to call your name. I would like to ask you about your research on German medal bars. Would you please give me your email address?
-
Hi Glenn,
I am researching the writing of Official Histories of the Great War and see from the posts you have Vol 13. and Vol 14 of Der Welkrieg.
Be aware the 1956 printing are facsimile reprints, and the main differences in the 1956 printing is Bundesarchiv on the spine, an additional introduction and the maps are in black and white, though some people have coloured in the black and white maps.
I am researching is to understand if Vol. 13 published in 1942 are numbered individually , and if Vol. 14 ever came out in 1944.
So are your copies the 1942 and 1944 editions, and if so are they number on the title page labelled Nr. *
Many thanks in advance for any help,
Martin

Hi SCollector and all-
I am writing a book on medals and awards issued to police by local UK forces and authorities, essentially Counties, Cities and Boroughs. I have two Bradford items in the book which I would like to know more about- what they were for, criteria for issue etc and any info. Hope you can help! I believe they were either awards for some particular service, or possibly identification badges. First one is in gold, the second bronze or brass.

Hello..
The order of the North star or order of the polar star.... in english if you translate the swedish namne, Kungl. Nordstjärne orden, it become Royal order of the North star....
In Sweden we changed officially from fabric stars to metal stars 1871. That dosent mean this star are after 1871.. But i think it is in that time period.

Dear Sir, would you like to give me your email address? I have some questions I would like to ask.

Hi Nick, you helped me out some time back regarding a relative. I had a follow up question that related to what his military rank was?

Thanks - much appreciated. Been a while since I was on this forum but we have just returned from a research trip in Finland. Much has happened since you last helped me. Amongst many things I have found his final resting place and head stone in Sweden as well as the official documentation from when he died and what was left of his estate (which was nothing). Recently came across some documentation from the Finnish Border Guards when he left Russia in 1927 after being wanted by the GPU at the time. Already enough material for a book I think ...
