Deruelle Posted April 2, 2021 Posted April 2, 2021 Many thanks It is Dr Heinrich Heyne (1874-1918) Christophe
Deruelle Posted August 24, 2021 Posted August 24, 2021 Hello, Can someone help me to id the two officer's name please ? It is for a friend. Thanks a lot Christophe
GreyC Posted August 24, 2021 Posted August 24, 2021 (edited) Hello, it is difficult to read. The signature could be Berndt, he was a Feldwebel-Leutnant. The name in the text Ettelt. Both names are listed in the loss list- Seinem lieben Kamerad Ettelt aus Dankbarkeit und zur freundlichen Erinnerung an unsere gemeinsame Arbeit. GreyC Edited August 24, 2021 by GreyC 1
Deruelle Posted August 24, 2021 Posted August 24, 2021 Thanks for your help. The text in on the back of one Saxon Jäger Bataillon officer card. For me it's a Leutnant. I can't find him on my saxon list Christophe
GreyC Posted August 24, 2021 Posted August 24, 2021 (edited) Hi Christophe, from the signature Berndt or Rantz is quite certainly a Feldwebel-Leutnant. if you look up Ettelt in the German army loss list, you´ll find the majority of the name bearers to be of Saxon origin, so that seems to fit well. bolewts58 Posted August 25, 2021 Posted August 25, 2021 I'm pretty sure it's Berndt, the line at the end being just a signature flourish. If the first letter is an "R", then it would be Randtz. Although, I doubt this. The "z" should be written the same as it is in the word "zur". But, it's clearly not. F.Ltnt. is indeed Feldwebel-Leutnant. 1
Tupper Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 Can some read the text for me. It would be very helpful - at least I hope so
Great Dane Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 Something along the lines of: Dearest! Thanks so much for [... some kind of card?...]. I'm coming back on the 15th of t(his) m(onth). See you.

GreyC Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 (edited) 17 hours ago, Great Dane said: ... some kind of card?... It says "Danke für gesendete Kußkarte" Thank you for your mailed kissing card - whatever that may be. At first I thought it might be Grußkarte - greeting card, but it does say Kußkarte. The last line (not yet translated) says "yours truly" and then the name I can´t decipher. GreyC Edited January 6, 2022 by GreyC
BlackcowboyBS Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Well it started with: Liebste and I would translate that as Sweetheart and not Dearest, so a kissingcard makes perfect sence! It is a card sent with a kiss, maybe she put a kiss on it or just sent kisses to him, who knows.
speedytop Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 Liebste! (Loved one, Dearest or Sweeetheart) Besten Dank für gesandte Kußkarte. Zum 15. d(iesen) M(onats) komme ich zurück. Auf Wiedersehn! Dein tr(euer) XXX An example for a "Kußkarte": Kußkarte Uwe
